Sidewalks for Bicycles

Here in Anyang, the sidewalks have a special place for bicycles. The sidewalks here are quite wide so aside from people walking, it can accomodate bicycles or even motorcycles.

But motorcycles are not supposed to pass the sidewalks. Only the streets.

Of course, they do not always follow this regulation. One time, as I was walking to class, a motorcycles almost hit me. Not that it was done on purpose. The motorcycle was just too close to me that it almost hit me.

In the past few days, I saw a subheadline which reads that the Lee Myung Bak administration is combatting motorcycle passers in the sidewalks. So good to hear that news.

It is not just for me. But the thousands of students using the sidewalks. If it is not safe for an adult like me, it is even not safer for young kids.

So the next time you hear or see a motorcycle, move out of the bicycle lane. They are going to pass that area.
